We are reminded that Christ is the expression of the Joy that has come to give us the Hope, Peace and Love that we need in our lives and world.  Joy is not happiness, but a greater non-conditional aspect of “gladness” that goes beyond the natural. Happiness comes from conditions that make us glad based on our outside happenings (birthday party, wedding, new baby or car, inheritance, etc.), but Joy comes from the inside in knowing that Christ is Joy as declared by the angels I bring you Glad tidings of great JOY, which shall be to all people” (Luke 2:14). In other words, it was a declaration that “I bring you Glad tidings of the Great Jesus”; He who will come to give us life more abundant than things. We further learned from the story of Mary meeting her cousin Elizabeth, whom were both pregnant with Jesus and John the Baptist, that when they arrived next to each other, John in his mother’s womb, “leaped for Joy” with the internal sense of the supernatural presence of Jesus in Mary’s womb.  Are you leaping?

“When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.” Luke 1:41-44
