2015 congo team

Dear Family/Friends/Brothers/Sisters,

Greetings once again from First Baptist Church Toronto (FBC), a church dedicated to serving the needs of its community; locally, nationally and internationally.

Members of our missions Team, Pas Wendell Gibbs, Laurena Zondo, Alex Brooks, (including 2 from USA) are scheduled to travel to Kigali, Rwanda & Goma, Congo to work among the locals and victims of these Genocide and War torn countries. Through the dedication of our missionary Laurena Zondo, and partnership with the Canadian Baptist Ministries, FBC has been privileged to help establish a Peace of Life camp in Rwanda over the past 6 years.

This year, the Team will embark on a 2 week journey, with the 1st week in Rwanda (Aug 3-7) and 2nd week in Congo (Aug 10-13) to work among the locals to provide assistance within the needs of the community and to offer care and workshops to the mostly orphan youths.

Pastor Gibbs’ participation will join the 2nd week in Goma, Congo and will depart on Thursday August 6 to join the Team in Kigali, Rwanda before driving to bordering Goma into Congo.  I return on Saturday August 15. My aim is to participate in a mutually transformative experience, with the love of God and caring service to my fellow brothers and sisters in Congo.

Last year’s Rwanda experience was a tremendous experience of sharing and reconciliation over their 20 year Genocide. Equally, we continue to offer our prayer for healing and renewal, with the same plight for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

I invite your prayerful support and consideration towards any donation to aid in this Mission trip. If considered, donations and/or cheques can be made out to “First Baptist Church Toronto”, referencing ‘FBC Mission 2015’. All donations over $20 will be receipted and used for our mission mandate.

Thank you and should you have any comments or questions, please do not hesitate to contact our office. You may also reach me directly at 416-977-5877.

Hoping for God’s light to burn bright in the lives of all youth and for there to be a determination for them to be catalysts of peace, love and unity in their world.  (Weblink from  www.apeaceoflife.com)
