Sunday’s service reviewed Ephesians 6’s armoury, as we expounded on the final weaponry of “Prayer”. We’ve learned our battle belongs to the Lord; and when we submit to His attention, He empowers us to stand at attention, with the Belt of Truth, Breastplate of Righteousness, Sandals of Peace, Shield of Faith, Helmet of Salvation, and Sword of the Spirit. However, our final strength comes from our “ACTS” of petition and obedience to HIS commands and instructions. Thus, the importance of prayer cannot be emphasized enough, as declared by Jesus’ guide in Mathew 6.. Here’s a model that can be used for your personal prayer life and/or public prayer. It’s acronym is called the “ACTS” of prayer.
ADORATION: Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. … from everlasting to everlasting you are God. Psalm 90:1
CONFESSION: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
THANKSGIVING: I will give thanks to the LORD because of His righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High. Psalm 7:17
SUPPLICATION: May my supplication come before you; deliver me according to your promise. Psalm 119:170
